Welcome
The Chair welcomed TAC members to the meeting and expressed thanks for their engagement and feedback during meetings.
This was the second Committee meeting of 2026.
TAC proposal: Suitability assessment
In response to TAC member views that the sector would welcome further support on product suitability assessments, FSRA proposed that the TAC develop a proposed suitability assessment form as an industry-led initiative. The goal is to improve compliance and improve consistency in documenting product suitability. FSRA will follow up with members to support their advancement of this initiative.
Data-based outcomes monitoring project
FSRA presented an update on an upcoming project led by FSRA’s Consumer Office. The objective of the project is to evaluate whether intended regulatory outcomes are being achieved and to identify potential gaps between what industry participants believe they are communicating and what borrowers are understanding.
Examination trends: Mortgage Administrators
FSRA provided an overview of trends noted during mortgage administrator examinations conducted in 2025. Observations were presented in four themes:
- Mortgage Administration Agreements
- Management of deemed trust funds and trust account requirements
- Timing of payment disbursements to investors
- Renewal processing on behalf of lenders/investors
Innovating together
FSRA provided an overview of the Innovation Office and explained how the regulatory sandbox supports and helps facilitate responsible innovation while managing risks to consumers and regulated sectors.

The next Committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
