You are required to report any updates to your insurance licence to the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA), including contact details or personal information changes.

The following instructions apply to life and accident & sickness agents, accident & sickness agents and general agents.

Who can make these updates?

As the agent, you will need to submit the updates either through Licensing Link or by sending FSRA an email, depending on the type of change you wish to make (see below for details). FSRA cannot make these updates on your behalf.

Which changes can be made through Licensing Link?

You can use Licensing Link to report the following:

  • update your contact information (email, mailing address)
  • update your errors and omissions insurance (for life and accident & sickness agents only)
  • update the list of insurance companies you represent (for life and accident & sickness agents only)

Which changes can be made through FSRA’s Online Services Portal (OSP)?

You will need to make changes to the following information using FSRA’s Online Services Portal:

  • name change
  • date of birth correction
  • gender change

You will need copies of your government-issued identification, a copy of your Triton record check invoice, and other supporting documents specified in the chart below to verify the change.

New Criminal Record check process

FSRA is changing its licensing processes for background criminal checks to ensure the processes remain up to date. Criminal record checks are part of FSRA’s rigorous licence qualification process to protect consumers by ensuring only suitable individuals sell or offer financial products and services in Ontario.

FSRA now requires licensees and applicants to complete their criminal record checks through our approved vendor, Triton Canada (Triton). To complete a name change, date of birth correction, or gender change, you must complete a background check through Triton’s website.

Once completed, you will need to return and complete your application form, along with uploading a copy of your Triton Invoice and any other supporting documents to the Online Services Portal.

A fee of $19.15 applies for Triton’s service, and the background check is valid for 90 days.
