Ad Hoc Technical Advisory Committee for Family Law Pension Matters
Meeting Summary

This summary sets out the key points discussed at the August 14, 2020, meeting.
Working Group Discussions
As discussed during the first Committee meeting, “working groups” were formed to focus on specific issues, as follows:
Group 1 – to focus on matters related to applications and process, including simplification of forms
Group 2 – to focus on payment matters
Group 3 – to focus on valuation matters
Groups 1 and 2 met in the weeks leading up to the August 14, 2020, meeting. Feedback received from these two groups was presented to the Committee and discussed amongst the Committee as a whole.
The Committee discussed ways to simplify the application process, and to harmonize, as much as possible, requirements under pension, estate and family law.
FSRA will use feedback from the Committee to develop draft guidance.
Next Steps
- Working group 3 will meet in mid-September to discussion valuation matters.
- Next Committee meeting is scheduled for September 25, 2020.
