Guideline on Public Hospitals and Determination of Catastrophic Impairment

The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) has released interpretation guidance that supports the public interest by referring to the Ontario Ministry of Health’s (MOH) list of hospitals designated as Ontario’s Lead Trauma Hospitals for the purposes of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS).

This new guidance will ensure that insurers and claimants have clear and updated information on the hospitals that are deemed Lead Trauma Hospitals. For example, when a designated hospital changes its name.

The list of Lead Trauma Hospitals will now be maintained by MOH and is available @ Critical Care Services Ontario.
