Purpose of Committee
FSRA’s Technical Advisory Committee for Family Law Pension Matters (the Committee) was established to review regulatory guidance and processes within the current legislative and regulatory framework that apply to the valuation and division of pension assets on marriage breakdown, including recently introduced rule-making powers.
Identified Issues
The Committee reviewed a presentation created to facilitate discussion on the main issues associated with the current family law regime. These issues include valuation of benefits, simplification of forms, and payment of benefits.
Working Groups
The Committee will also establish working groups with the objective of focusing discussions on the identified issues.
Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Committee is scheduled for August 14, 2020.
