This summary sets out the key points discussed at the April 29, 2022 meeting.

Market trends and proposed 2022-2023 supervision focus

The Committee and FSRA shared observations on recent trends and emerging issues in the mortgage industry.

The Committee also provided feedback on FSRA’s proposed 2022-2023 supervision focus. FSRA will publish the mortgage brokering sector supervision plan in Summer 2022. The focus will be determined based on common examination findings, areas of continued interest, recent regulatory changes and trends in the mortgage brokering sector.

Mortgage brokerage enhanced data collection discussion

FSRA discussed proposed considerations for enhanced data collection initiatives within the Mortgage Brokering Sector. The Committee provided feedback on the technological options FSRA should explore.

Mortgage agents and brokers licence renewal process

FSRA discussed the licensing renewal process for mortgage agents and brokers and sought the TAC’s feedback on potential improvements to encourage early submission to FSRA.

Next meeting

The next meeting of the committee will be scheduled for June 22, 2022.
