Stakeholder perspectives on FSRA’s performance

To ensure FSRA continues to deliver on its vision of promoting safety, fairness, and choice for Ontarians, we regularly engage with a wide range of stakeholders. This ongoing dialogue is a key part of FSRA’s mandate and business planning process.

Every two years, FSRA conducts its Stakeholder Engagement Survey to better understand how we’re performing and where we can improve. The survey assesses stakeholder awareness of FSRA’s role, the effectiveness of our engagement and communications, and perceptions of our supervision activities.

This year, we invited stakeholders to share feedback on their experiences, satisfaction, and expectations of FSRA through an online survey. We received more than 2,700 responses, and we thank everyone who took the time to participate.

Key insights on where FSRA is doing well:

  • Strong awareness: 99% of stakeholders recognize FSRA as Ontario’s financial services regulator
  • Positive reputation: 72% of respondents continue to hold a positive view of FSRA, consistent with the progress seen since 2019
  • Delivering on our vision: 69% agree FSRA is fulfilling its role in promoting financial safety, fairness, and choice for Ontarians

Key insights on where FSRA could focus its efforts:

  • Reducing regulatory burden: Only 53% of respondents agree FSRA is making progress in this area, showing room for improvement
  • Listening and responding: 61% of stakeholders feel FSRA values their input and incorporates their feedback into decision-making
  • Enhancing awareness: Only 46 to 55% of stakeholders are aware of FSRA’s engagement activities, including webinars and town halls

The results also showed that our communications tactics are well-received, and there is a desire for more stakeholder participation via online surveys.

FSRA has reviewed the survey results and is using the data to focus on areas in need of improvement. We are also committed to measuring and benchmarking our progress again in two years. Please visit our stakeholder survey page to learn more.
