Committee survey update
FSRA shared the results of the first experience survey of all Pensions Standing Technical Advisory Committee Members. Members discussed findings specific to the DB SEPP Committee as well as cross-committee results including engagement; collaboration, meeting frequency, amongst others.
Rules of Engagement & expectations
The committee discussed the present engagement structure and expectations of discussed items taken back to committee member organizations. The Terms of Reference for all the Pensions Standing Technical Advisory Committees will be evaluated in the new year.
PBGF report
FSRA provided the PBGF update to the Committee. FSRA released the 2nd Annual Report on the PBGF in July 2024. The implications of the federal PPA were discussed, and the members agreed to continue to keep PBGF updates on this committee’s agenda in subsequent meetings.
AMPS & filing issues
FSRA presented its approach to compliance with filing requirements and the levying of SAMPs for non-compliant plans.
Communications & engagement update
FSRA provided an update on the upcoming Pensions Awareness Day set for February 5, 2025, and FSRA Exchange to take place on March 3, 2025. Feedback was sought for participation in the Pensions Awareness Day campaign as well as a canvass of topics for the 2025 FSRA Exchange Pensions Plenary session.
PBR Guidance
FSRA released its final Guidance on Principles-Based Regulation on September 5, 2024. This replaces the previous Pension Sector Guiding Principles Guidance.
