Work on proposed rule for life and health managing general agents being paused

The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) is pausing work to finalize the proposed Rule and implement a licensing regime for Life and Health Managing General Agents (L&H MGAs), which had been targeted for June 1, 2026.

The Government of Ontario will communicate next steps regarding the proposed MGA licensing framework in due course.

FSRA thanks the many stakeholders who provided thoughtful input during the consultation process and looks forward to continued engagement on this important consumer protection initiative.
