Improving access to automobile accident benefits
Ontario’s financial services regulator (FSRA) is making it easier for consumers to apply for automobile accident benefits. In collaboration with industry stakeholders and the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), FSRA has revised the Application for Accident Benefits (OCF-1) form.
The revised version of the form is easier to understand, quicker for consumers to complete, and offers an improved customer experience.
To make the switch to the new form easier, FSRA is allowing a six-month transition period. During this period, insurers can accept both versions of the OCF-1 form.
As of May 7, 2025, only the updated form will be available for consumers looking to file for accident benefits. To learn more about the claims process, consumers can visit FSRA’s website for more information.
