Amplifying consumer voices in Ontario Financial Services Regulation

FSRA releases 2024-25 Consumer Advisory Panel Annual Report

FSRA’s Consumer Advisory Panel provides a consumer perspective to help inform the regulator’s work and deliver on its vision of financial safety, fairness and choice for Ontarians.

The panel meets regularly and offers advice on FSRA’s strategic approach and related activities, including consumer-based research, policy initiatives and consumer education.  

To highlight the important work the panel is doing, FSRA is releasing the Consumer Advisory Panel’s 2024-25 Annual Report. 

The report outlines the Panel’s engagement with FSRA and key activities, such as: 

  • participating in eight internal FSRA topic specific working groups to provide consumer perspective in the development of frameworks and products related to strengthening the protection of vulnerable consumers
  • evaluating FSRA’s Financial Professionals Title Protection Framework and its Check Credential Tool
  • providing seven written submissions to FSRA on topics related to auto insurance, life insurance, mortgage brokering and principles-based regulation
  • holding six collaborative meetings with FSRA ensuring consumer perspectives were reflected in the development and articulation of potential new policy initiative
  • informing FSRA’s strategic direction through a written submission and presentation to FSRA Board of Directors in response to FSRA’s proposed 2025-26 Statement of Priorities
