General Comments
This was the first Auto Insurance Data & Analytics Technical Advisory Committee meeting held by FSRA and was primarily an introductory meeting. FSRA provided an overview of the objective of the Committee and reviewed the expected outcomes and mandate.
FSRA also provided an overview of the proposed themes that would be discussed during the following meetings, the selected deep dive topics based on feedback received from the Committee members prior to the meeting, and the expected deliverables. Members were asked to review the discussion topics outlined during the meeting, and to provide any additional comments or suggestions.
FSRA provided an overview of principles-based regulation and described its approach for moving to outcomes-based regulation, and greater reliance on broad based standards in preference to detailed rules. The Committee members expressed support for this approach and discussed ways to consider this in undertaking future discussions.
