How to make an insurance claim after an accident
A number of variables can impact the insurer to which you should send your claim. Before you make a claim with an insurer, it is important to understand your insurance coverage options.
Carefully review the information provided by your ridesharing or carsharing company, their insurer and any other insurer that may cover you, such as your personal auto insurance policy. You may also wish to consider getting independent legal advice, particularly if you or others were injured in the accident.
Rideshare drivers
If you are a ridesharing driver and the app was not on at the time of the accident, contact your personal auto insurance representative.
Carshare participants
If you are a carsharing participant, contact your carsharing company for information on how to make a claim.
Important information for passengers
If you are involved in a ridesharing or carsharing accident as a passenger, it is important to record all the details of the accident, to help you make an insurance claim.
If you don’t have personal auto insurance coverage, contact the ridesharing or carsharing company’s insurer about making a claim. You can get the insurance policy information from the driver or from the company’s website.
You may also wish to consider getting independent legal advice, particularly if you or others were injured in the accident.
