FSRA removes DFSA credential from Ontario's Title Protection Framework

At the request of the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), FSRA is removing the Designated Financial Services Advisor (DFSATM) as an approved credential under the Financial Professionals Title Protection Framework.

This decision will not impact most DFSATM credential holders as the majority hold other FSRA-approved credentials that allow them to continue to use the Financial Advisor title. It will also eliminate duplicative fees for credential holders.

To ensure the small number of impacted DFSATM credential holders have enough time to obtain a new credential, FSRA has required a six (6)-month transition period.

As of November 22, 2024, the DFSATM credential will no longer qualify an individual to use the Financial Advisor title. Individuals must hold another FSRA-approved credential by this date in order to continue using the Financial Advisor title.
