FSRA imposes administrative penalties and licence conditions on Gordon Kimberly Hinkson and Ocean West Financial Group

The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) has imposed administrative penalties in the amount of $40,000.00 on Gordon Kimberly Hinkson (Hinkson) and $50,000 on Ocean West Financial Group (OWFG). FSRA has also imposed licence conditions on Hinkson and OWFG.

Hinkson and OWFG contravened the Insurance Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.I.8, (the Act) as amended and its regulations as follows:

• By acting as an agent without being licensed under the Act contrary to subsection 2(1) of Ontario Regulation 347/04.
• By directly or indirectly furnishing false, misleading or incomplete information to the authority contrary to section 447(2)(a) of the Act.

FSRA issued these orders as a result of a settlement with Hinkson and OWFG.
