Advance notice: FSRA questionnaire for life and health insurers

Ontario’s financial services regulator, FSRA, wants to work with insurers to better understand the individual life & health (L&H) managing general agent (MGA) distribution landscape in Ontario, gain further insights into the insurer-MGA relationships, and ensure fair outcomes for consumers.

On May 26, 2025, FSRA will distribute a questionnaire to select L&H insurers in Ontario, which will focus on their MGA distribution channels and business practices, as part of a phased approach.

This follows FSRA’s supervisory reviews of L&H insurers and MGAs in recent years, which identified potential market conduct and consumer risks. Insurers’ responses will help identify any additional risks and shape future supervisory priorities.

FSRA looks forward to collaborating with insurers on this proactive initiative to strengthen compliance standards and protect consumers in the L&H insurance sector.
