Paul Martiniello
Paul Martiniello is Executive Vice-President, Pensions at the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA), where he leads the supervision and regulation of Ontario's pension sector in support of FSRA's statutory pension mandate.
Paul brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in pensions, financial services regulation, risk management, investment management, pension operations, and governance. Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership positions across both the public and private sectors, working with pension plans and financial institutions in Canada and internationally.
Prior to his appointment as Executive Vice-President, Paul served as Head of Prudential Supervision for Single-Employer and Multi-Employer Pension Plans at FSRA. In that role, he led the development and implementation of FSRA's risk-based supervisory approach for pensions, strengthened relationship management with pension plan fiduciaries, and advanced regulatory initiatives that promote strong governance, risk mitigation, and the protection of pension plan beneficiaries.
Before joining FSRA, Paul held senior leadership positions at CEM Benchmarking, OMERS, Scotiabank's International Wealth Management division, and National Bank Financial. His experience spans pension administration, investment oversight, enterprise risk management, operations, benchmarking, organizational transformation, and stakeholder engagement.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from Toronto Metropolitan University and an International MBA in Finance from York University's Schulich School of Business, including studies at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He holds the Chartered Director (C.Dir.) and Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designations and has completed advanced certifications in pension law and financial services regulation through Osgoode Hall Law School.
