Attention health service providers: FSRA’s new criminal record check process has launched
The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) has changed its licensing processes for criminal record checks to ensure the processes remain up-to-date and are as efficient as possible.
What has changed?
As of today, directors, officers or partners (DOPs) are required to complete a criminal record check when they:
- are added to a health service provider licence
- submit a name change request
FSRA also now requires all DOPs of businesses applying for a new HSP licence to complete the criminal record check beginning today.
What do I need to do?
During the DOP registration or name change processes, the DOP will be prompted to complete the criminal record check using FSRA’s approved vendor, Triton. You must use FSRA’s link to Triton’s website and be aware a fee of $19.15 applies for Triton’s service. You will be prompted to provide your confirmation number from Triton during the FSRA registration or name change process.
Criminal record checks are part of FSRA’s rigorous licence qualification process. It protects consumers by ensuring only suitable individuals deal in financial products and services in Ontario. FSRA continues to improve our licensing services through enhanced systems and processes.
- Health Service Providers must report changes in their business to FSRA within five business days. These changes include modifications in contact information, principal representative, directors, officers, or partners. See the HSP Licensing Toolkit for more information.
