Ontario signs new 2020 agreement respecting multi-jurisdictional pension plans
Ontario has signed the 2020 Agreement Respecting Multi-jurisdictional Pension Plans, joining six other provinces and the Government of Canada. The Agreement comes into effect, July 1, 2020.
The Agreement covers the majority of multi-jurisdictional pension plans and their beneficiaries in Canada, making it easier for multi-jurisdictional plans to administer their plans, and for supervisory authorities like FSRA to apply the legal framework. It continues to protect member entitlements and ease the regulatory burden for pension plans in Canada.
